US Immigration - Cheap Shots

An Immigration law issue that we at Cheap Lawyers USA have taken an active interest in is the returnees. The current US administration has been using Immigration laws to reduce prison population & recidivism by deporting what we feel are in reality US citizens in that they have spent the majority of their lives in the USA and have no memories or experiences living anywhere else. We feel that the system has failed to protect the most vulnerable, underage children, which is for many a corner stone of democracy.

Refugee families from countries like Cambodia, Viet Nam & Nicaragua and other places that have had wars come to the United States to live a better life and to escape persecution. In many cases these families have kids that are younger than the age of 7, In many instances the families speak very little English if any and live in the poor neighborhoods with out adequate access to legal advise. The parents will not be aware nor are they made aware that if they do not get citizenship for their kids that should the kids be convicted of a crime like possession of a very small amount of drugs or drunk driving charges as young adults or older that they can and are now being deported back to the country that they cane from, which for these kids they have no experience and most times don’t speak the language or have any family or social connection in the country that they were born. We feel strongly that this is cruel and unusual punishment.

We feel strongly that there should be legislation created that if a child that is under the age of 7 and has lived in the USA for more than 7 years that they be given automatic citizenship or a automatic irrevocable status that protects them from being deported against their will.

We would like to see also included a proviso that would allow those who have been deported a hearing to reassess and determine whether or not that the circumstances that they find themselves in would qualify them because of persecution to refugee status with provisos that will allow them to gain citizenship even if they have a prior felony conviction after demonstrating through a probationary period if they meet the qualification of came to the US before the age of 7 and lived in the USA for the majority of their life.

How do you feel about it? please write your comments we publish all points of view and encourage debate.
