If Money is your God then protect your rights & sue the government for violating the constitution.

If we follow the first amendment and truly have separation of state and church, then separation of business and the state should also be a given on the same grounds, the state needs to be neutral and let capitalism and the markets work, so protect your rights and sue the government. Wall Street worships money so I am surprised that they have not brought suit against the government on Constitutional grounds.

We spent a trillion dollars to save a bunch of banks and supposedly save a bunch of jobs Horse hockey . If people want work they will make work if they know that the government is not going to save them, If we have banks that went over the edge of reason and imperiled their institutions then Darwin needs to have his day, it is like the forests and protecting them we then end up with these massive fires that would not have happened if we had let nature take its natural course.

How many people did not take a chance and start a new business because that is the risky way, so the governments interference in the markets is causing the decline of our way of life as America was made great by people taking chances and succeeding but for everyone that succeeds their needs to be one that fails just like in nature.

Penalties harsher for the credit card companies?

Makes the penalties harsher for the credit card companies when they don't follow the fine print in the Truth in Lending Act. We are still waiting for the settlement from the foreign transaction class action, so if there are greater penalties imposed hopefully the government can get the money back faster than the lawyers have so far.

(Sec. 107) Revises civil penalties for creditor noncompliance with TILA. Includes in such penalties twice the amount of any finance charge in connection with a transaction, between $500 and $5,000 (or a higher amount in the case of an established pattern or practice of noncompliance), in the case of an individual action relating to an open end consumer credit plan that is not secured by real property or a dwelling.

US laws Marijuana!

These kinds of US laws are sorely needed as we lock up so many that should be treated instead of criminalized. I happy to see that the Us government is starting to understand that you can't declare war on your own citizens and still call your self a democracy.

The United States' first marijuana cafe opened on Friday, posing an early test of the Obama administration's move to relax policing of medical use of the drug.

The Cannabis Cafe in Portland, Oregon, is the first to give certified medical marijuana users a place to get hold of the drug and smoke it -- as long as they are out of public view -- despite a federal ban.

"This club represents personal freedom, finally, for our members," said Madeline Martinez, Oregon's executive director of NORML, a group pushing for marijuana legalization.

"Our plans go beyond serving food and marijuana," said Martinez. "We hope to have classes, seminars, even a Cannabis Community College, based here to help people learn about growing and other uses for cannabis."

The cafe -- in a two-story building which formerly housed a speak-easy and adult erotic club Rumpspankers -- is technically a private club, but is open to any Oregon residents who are NORML members and hold an official medical marijuana card.

Members pay $25 per month to use the 100-person capacity cafe. They don't buy marijuana, but get it free over the counter from "budtenders". Open 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., it serves food but has no liquor license.

There are about 21,000 patients registered to use marijuana for medical purposes in Oregon. Doctors have prescribed marijuana for a host of illnesses, including Alzheimer's, diabetes, multiple sclerosis and Tourette's syndrome.

Sex 107of the New USA Credit Card law

This section of the US new credit card law that comes into effect in Feb 2010 puts a cap of sorts on the amount that the Credit card companies can collect from you in fees. TILA is the Truth in Lending Act a law to also help consumers.

Cheap Lawyer Grace Periods on Credit Cards in USA.

This section of the new credit card law closes another of the ways that the banks would use to trip people up and protects the rights of Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discovery and other credit cards issued to US citizens. By changing the date every month they would get a certain number of people that would miss the deadline and would get hit with late payments or ever worse get the penalty rates. One of the earlier sections also addresses this problem.

For many people in the USA this law alone Mr Obama should have won the Nobel peace prize for all of the family disputes that this will curtail.

(Sec. 106) Requires the payment due date to be the same day each month, or the next business day if such date falls on a weekend or holiday.
Revises requirements for the timing of payments and the grace period. Requires each periodic statement of payment due to be mailed no later than 21 days before the payment due date.

Cheap Lawyer fee harvester credit cards in USA

We are still going through the new law for credit cards that comes into effect in Feb 2010 which is very close. Another avenue of insane practice closed to the banks. We like the parts of the new credit card act that protect people from being mauled as they are getting into trouble that dig bigger holes and bury the consumer in debt.

(Sec. 105) Prescribes a standard for the initial issuance of subprime or "fee harvester" cards (accounts requiring first-year fee payments in excess of 25% of the total amount of credit authorized). Prohibits payment of any fee from the credit made available by the card (other than any late fee, over-the-limit fee, or any fee for a payment returned for insufficient funds).

New Credit Card law Act of 2009 Sec 104

You know that the credit card companies don't like this section of the new credit card law of 2009 because this along with several things was a principle way for keeping people so that they could not dig themselves out. Now if you make a payment more than the minimum they need to apply it to the highest interest rate portion of your credit card bill first.

The 2nd part was just a dastardly method to make people miss there payments really sneaky stuff that I am sure even a cheap us lawyer would spot a mile away. It seems like every time I go to pay my credit card bills that the website is down for website maintenance, we would like to see something that says that if the site is down for site maintenance with in 48 hours of someones due date that they be extended 48 hours additional time to pay . There a new proviso that I seem to remember that should come into effect with this law that you are not late until all most a month has passed beyond your due date. I will need to look that up again.

(Sec. 104) Revises requirements governing crediting of payments.
Requires a card issuer, upon receipt of payment, to apply amounts in excess of the minimum payment amount first to the balance bearing the highest rate of interest, and then to each successive balance bearing the next highest rate of interest, until the payment is exhausted.
Requires a creditor to allocate the entire amount paid in excess of the minimum payment to a balance on which interest is deferred during the last two billing cycles immediately preceding the expiration of the period during which interest is deferred.
Prohibits a card issuer from imposing any late fee or finance charge for a late payment if: (1) the issuer makes a material change in the mailing address, office, or procedures for handling cardholder payments; and (2) such change causes a material delay in the crediting of payment made during the 60-day period following the date on which such change took effect.
